The term cosmetology is derived from the Greek word: “Kosmetikos” which represents “skilled in the use of cosmetics”. Cosmetics illustrates: “Substances of diverse origin, scientifically compounded” which are utilized for factors such as cleansing, diminishes skin troubles, relieve imperfections and intensify beauty. Ancient science of Cosmetology states the origination in Egypt and India, but the earliest documentation of cosmetic substances and their usage dates to roughly about 2500 and 1550 B.C, pointing back to the time of Indus valley civilization. Cosmetics were also functioning during the times of the oldest civilizations such as “Harappa” and “Mohenjo-Daro”, collaborating with the religious practices and beliefs.

Naija represents the natural healing and signifies the prominence of Spiritual and Historic knowledge. Naija Efficiently persists the Historic Culture, enhancing the human optimism and ensuring to maintain the harmony and avoid the disruption of Human beliefs. We, the team Naija ensure to render you quality standards which is a combination of modern technology and ancient culture, promising you a safe and optimal experience to beauty.

The artefacts of ivory and metal utilized for holding and applying the cosmetic proves the significance of face paint and collyrium. The religious texts, popularly known as Vedas representing the epic poems of 1500 BC, persist the material of herbal culture and beliefs. The carvings of temples and sculptures found during the Vedic and Prevedic duration depicts the application and utilization of cosmetics. Ubtan, the powdered mixture of organic herbs and natural components are still in practice today. It was during the Gupta dynasty where in the cosmetic hygiene took an extent in the advancement and promoted various types of creams, oils, pastes, dyes, hair oils and perfumes used by individuals. In the course of Mughal Empire, Surmas and Henna was under usage and the commonly used components were Sandalwood, Saffron, Aloe Vera, Neem, Turmeric, Shikakai, Amla etc., which were respectively used for enriching the skin and hair quality. Additionally, essential oils and butter were also utilized effectively. Thus, Naija’s products persevere the quality and culture of naturality, where the ingredients and its usage are derived from the Historic practices.

There is no denying there is a global ‘awakening’ or movement towards organic as more and more people become increasingly educated and aware of the health risks associated with exposure to non-organic products and foods that contain harmful toxins and carcinogens, because of this trend, more brands are aligning their products and marketing towards the natural and organic space, so it’s important to know the difference and what sets Certified Organic and in turn, Naija Organics apart.

Products simply labelled ‘Natural or Organic’ come with no guarantees unless they are certified by an independent body, because using and marketing these terms is unregulated. Many consumers wrongly assume these ‘Natural and Organic’ products contain ingredients that are minimally processed and that they don’t contain toxic chemicals or artificial fragrances. But unfortunately, due to the lack of regulation within the beauty industry, manufacturers can misleadingly label their products as ‘organic’ or ‘natural’ even though they contain processed, toxic and chemically enhanced ingredients.

"Did you know that the average woman applies more than 200 chemicals to her skin by using her skin care products in one day? Did you know that 60% of these chemicals are further absorbed into your bloodstream? These are two of the main reasons that organic skincare is one of the fastest growing areas of the beauty industry today. The more we learn about the bitter side effects of unhealthy skincare, the more quickly we will seek out other options."

Therefore, it’s important to always look for a trusted Certified Organic logo to ensure you are receiving a Certified Organic product you and your family can trust.

Why? Certified Organic is the most heavily regulated ingredient system in the world and guarantees no toxic synthetic pesticides, herbicides or chemicals are used in production of ingredients or manufacturing of products. At Naija Organics our products are officially certified by the world’s leading international certification body ECOCERT Greenlife (founding member of COSMOS-standard AISBL)

The certification process includes a yearly audit of all registered brand owners and manufacturers to ensure compliance with the strict regulations set out by the certification body. Naija Organics products include ingredients that are certified according to organic farming regulations. This includes inspections of farm fields and processing facilities, detailed record keeping and periodic testing of soil and water to ensure that growers and handlers are meeting the standards, which have been set. Certified organic foods and fiber are spared the application of toxic and persistent insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and fertilizers. In the long run, organic farming techniques provide a safer, more sustainable environment for everyone and more and more people are becoming aware of the benefits of using and consuming certified organic products and foods.
